The Love of Purple: Passion or Obsession?
Those who have a loving passion or an over-the-top obsession with the color purple now have another haven where they can find products to renew their purple spirit as a sister finds comfort in honoring her late brother's memory by carrying on his love for purple.

/Kansas News Articles/ - Ellsworth, KS, June 29, 2005 - Name the color that has dozens of websites devoted to extolling its virtues? Not red, blue, or green even though in various polls they normally rank the highest. It's that magical mix of red and blue that has been the color of royalty for centuries. Purple. What purple lovers lack in numbers, they more than overwhelmingly make up in sound volume declaring their devotion to all things purple. Those websites actually sell nothing. They solely are soapboxes for those who are not ashamed that they wear only purple clothing and their dwellings are decorated in purples. And that they seek what seems to be the ultimate goal of the purple lover-a purple car.

Although purple has elbowed its way into the culture mainstream in the last decade or so, one still has to search diligently to locate items such as furniture and home d cor in that elusive color. One or two desired items can be found here and there, but it is rare to find an entire store of only purple products. Until now. This June marks the grand opening of "My Purple Store.com". This online shop carries a variety of home and office accents in a rainbow of purple shades. With the slogan "Dedicated to the Purple Lover and Those Who Love Them", mypurplestore.com seeks those who don't want to wade through aisles of red, blue, or green to find, if able, just one or two purple items. Likewise, mypurplestore.com embraces the fact that those who love purple are usually identified as "original, non-conventional, and visionary" by color physiologists, and therefore features products that range from 'formal to funky' and 'elegant to eccentric', including Victorian styled candleholders and inflatable furniture.

Trudy A. Lough, owner and a Kansas native, brings her personal story to mypurplestore.com. Ms. Lough has dedicated the website to her older brother who was killed by a drunk driver in 1971 just shy of his 17th birthday. During the week of July 16th, mypurplestore.com will contribute a portion of its profits to MADD, in memory of Ms. Lough's brother. He is the one who instilled in her a love for purple. "I have always loved the color and even did my wedding in orchid to honor him." She herself has been frustrated with not being about to find products in purple. She opened mypurplestore.com to help other who were also frustrated. "I am a living example of the PURPLE PROFILE", explains Ms. Lough. "I 'take chances and believe that you must do so to make the most of what life has to offer.'"

So regardless if one's interest in purple is passion or obsession, mypurplestore.com is willing to fulfill their needs. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, even through purple colored glasses.
